Department of Mechanical Engineering Sanjivani K.B.P. Polytechnic Visited at CIPET Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
As part of the academic curriculum and to enhance practical exposure, a group of students from Mechanical Engineering Department, Sanjivani K.B.P.Polytechnic undertook an industrial visit to the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, on 26/07/2025
CIPET, a premier national institution under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, is renowned for its expertise in plastic engineering and technology. The visit provided students with valuable insights into various domains such as plastic processing, product design using CAD/CAM, mould manufacturing, and quality control.
During the visit, students were guided through advanced laboratories and workshops, including:
- Processing Lab: Demonstrations of injection moulding, blow moulding, and extrusion techniques.
- Tool Room: Exposure to high-precision CNC machines and mould fabrication units.
- CAD/CAM Lab: Introduction to design software used in the plastic product development cycle.
- Testing & Quality Control Lab: Hands-on overview of material testing and product quality assessment.
The experts at CIPET also conducted an interactive session where they explained current trends in polymer science and career opportunities in the plastic and petrochemical industries.
